Manage Subscription
View your current plan, billing details, and manage your subscription
Overview
The subscription management screen lets you view your current plan, check usage, and manage billing. Access it from Settings > Subscription.
What You'll See
- Current plan — Your active subscription tier (Free or Scholar)
- Usage summary — How many notes, generations, and audio hours you've used this period
- Renewal date — When your subscription renews (for Scholar subscribers)
- Payment method — Managed through App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android)
Managing Your Subscription
View Plan Details
In Settings > Subscription, you can see:
- Your current plan (Free or Scholar)
- Features included in your plan
- Usage statistics for the current period
- Next billing date and amount (for Scholar subscribers)
Check Usage
Free Plan Users:
- See remaining notes, generations, and audio hours (lifetime limits)
- Track your lifetime usage
- Upgrade prompt when approaching limits
Scholar Plan Users:
- View total usage statistics
- Audio transcription hours used (Scholar has extended but not unlimited audio)
- Usage tracking for fair usage policy compliance
Cancel Subscription
To cancel your Scholar subscription:
iOS (App Store):
- Open Settings on your iPhone
- Tap your name at the top
- Tap Subscriptions
- Select Notesmakr
- Tap Cancel Subscription
Android (Google Play):
- Open Google Play Store
- Tap your profile icon
- Tap Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions
- Select Notesmakr
- Tap Cancel subscription
When you cancel Scholar, you'll continue to have access to Scholar features until the end of your current billing period. After that, your account will revert to the Free plan with its lifetime limits.
Restore Purchase
If you've previously purchased Scholar and need to restore it (for example, after reinstalling the app or switching devices):
- Go to Settings > Subscription
- Tap Restore Purchases
- Your active subscription will be restored automatically
Restoring purchases works across devices on the same platform (iOS to iOS, Android to Android). Your subscription is tied to your App Store or Google Play account.
Billing Information
How Billing Works
- Free Plan: No billing, no credit card required
- Scholar Plan: Billed through App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android)
- Automatic Renewal: Scholar subscriptions renew automatically
- Receipts: Emailed by Apple or Google after each payment
Changing Billing Frequency
To switch between monthly and annual billing:
- Cancel your current subscription (you'll keep access until period ends)
- When your current period expires, subscribe again with your preferred billing frequency
Payment Issues
If your payment fails:
- Update your payment method in App Store or Google Play settings
- Your subscription will retry charging automatically
- Contact Apple or Google support for payment-specific issues
Tips
- Check your usage regularly in Settings > Subscription to see if your plan fits your needs
- Set a reminder a few days before renewal if you're considering canceling
- Annual billing typically saves 20-25% compared to monthly
- Manage all billing through App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android), not in the Notesmakr app
