Connect AI Assistants
Let Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, Codex and other AI assistants add notes, flashcards, quizzes and mind maps to your Notesmakr library with a personal access token
You can connect an AI assistant such as Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code (GitHub Copilot), Claude Desktop, Codex or Gemini CLI to Notesmakr. The assistant can then save study notes to your library and attach flashcards, a quiz and a mind map to each note. You study them in the app like any other note.
The connection uses the Notesmakr MCP server (Model Context Protocol). Full setup steps for each assistant are on the Notesmakr MCP page.
Create a Token
Go to Settings → Connect AI assistants.
Type a name, such as "My laptop", and tap Create token.
Tap Copy token. The token is shown only once. For Claude Code, you can tap Copy command to copy the full setup command with your token already in it.
Follow the guide for your assistant: Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, Claude Desktop, Codex, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot CLI, Devin Desktop, Zed, Cline, Kiro or OpenCode.
What the Assistant Can Do
- Add notes — each note uses 1 note from your plan, the same as a note you create in the app.
- Attach flashcards, a quiz and a mind map to a note — free, these do not use your plan.
- Save a flashcard deck on its own, not tied to a note — free. It appears in the Flashcards tab under Standalone.
- Flashcards can be front/back cards or fill-in-the-blank (cloze) cards.
A token cannot read, change or delete your notes.
Find the New Note
New notes appear at the top of your Notes list. If the app is already open, pull down on the list to refresh it.
Revoke a Token
Go to Settings → Connect AI assistants and tap Revoke next to the token. Any assistant using it stops working straight away.
